The temper of aluminum plate is directly related to its hardness. If you are not familiar with the temper when selecting aluminum plate, it will affect the product's performance and processing effect. Below we briefly discuss the selection of aluminum plate temper.
According to different processing techniques and processes, the temper of aluminum plate can be divided into F, O, H, W, T, five types. Below we introduce each.
1. F temper, also known as as-fabricated condition, applies to products that have no special control over thermal treatment or work hardening during forming. The mechanical properties of this condition are not specified.
2. O temper, also known as annealed condition, applies to products that have been annealed to obtain low strength. Aluminum plate in this condition has good elongation, suitable for deep drawing products such as lamps, dinner plates and other drawn items.
3. H temper, also known as work-hardened condition, applies to products that have been work-hardened to increase strength. The product may undergo additional heat treatment (or not) to reduce strength after work hardening. The H code is followed by two or three digits. Aluminum plate in this condition has good formability and strength, suitable for 90-degree bending, widely used in industry.
4. W temper, also known as solution heat-treated condition, is an unstable state. It applies only to alloys that age naturally at room temperature after solution heat treatment. This temper designation indicates the product is in the natural aging stage.
5. T temper, also known as heat-treated condition (different from F, O, H), applies to products that have been heat-treated (with or without subsequent work-hardening) to achieve a stable condition. T is followed by one or more digits. Products requiring hardness and strength are recommended to choose this series.
